This is an Easy Amla Pickle Recipe made within a few minutes with simple spices. Amla or Indian gooseberry is a powerhouse of antioxidants. It can be consumed raw, in the form of juice, candy, pickles, or supplements, and is a very rich source of vitamin C, iron and calcium and amla is also a health treasure. In this recipe, I have shared a quick and Easy Gooseberry Pickle Recipe made in just 15 minutes and it is usually made during the winters when Amla are in season.

Ingredients
  

  • 10 Nos Amla
  • ¼ Cup Oil
  • 1 tsp Mustard seeds
  • ¼ tsp Asafoetida
  • 2 tsp Red chilli powder
  • 1 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp Salt

For Masala Powder

  • 2 tsp Mustard seeds
  • 1 tsp Fenugreek seeds
  • 1 tsp Fennel seeds
  • 1 tsp Sesame seeds

Instructions
 

  • Steam the amlas for 5 minutes.
  • Cool completely,separate the segments and remove the seeds.
  • To prepare masala powder dry roast mustard, fenugreek, fennel and sesame seeds till the turn aromatic.
  • Blend the roasted spices into a fine powder.
  • Heat oil and once the oil is hot add 1 tsp of mustard seeds and ¼ tsp of asafoetida.
  • Switch off the flame. Add the amla, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, salt and masala powder. Mix well
  • Amla pickle is ready to be served
  • Amla pickle tastes the best after 3 days.
  • Store in refrigerator for longer shelf life up to 6 months

Notes

Choose an amla that is firm and fresh, this will keep the pickle for a longer time.
Prepare the amla pickle in small quantities as the amla gradually will become soft and lose its shape.
Store it in the refrigerator for longer shelf life.
