Wheat Laddu or Godi Hittina Laadu is an Indian traditional winter sweet made with wheat flour, sugar, and ghee. Atta is the Indian name for whole wheat flour and ladoos are sweet balls. Atta or wheat keeps the body warm, so it is mostly considered a great food during winter. Traditionally Wheat ladoos are prepared with jaggery, but these Wheat Laddus are prepared with sugar. There are many versions of Wheat Laddus in India and this is one of the simpler ones with powdered sugar.

Whole wheat ladoos are the easiest and the quickest ladoos that can be prepared. The key step in making these ladoos is to dry roast the whole wheat flour in a non-stick pan until fragrant, as roasting the flour well removes the raw smell and gives a rich aroma to the ladoo. This is a healthy sweet compared to other traditional ladoos, as it is made from wheat flour. It is an ideal sweet recipe for the festival season and can be prepared with minimal ingredients. I usually prepare these ladoos for Diwali Sweets. Kids or adults, none can resist these aromatic, tasty, melt-in-the-mouth ladoos. It can be had as a snack any time of the day.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 Cups Wheat Flour
  • 1 Cup Powdered Sugar
  • 1 Cup Ghee
  • 1 tsp Cardamom Powder
  • 1/2 Cup Chopped Nuts Cashews & Almonds

Instructions
 

  • Dry roast the chopped nuts.
  • Dry roast the wheat flour till its colour changes and it becomes aromatic.
  • Add the roasted nuts, Cardamom Powder, ghee and continue to roast until it binds properly with ghee.
  • Switch off. Let it cool.
  • When slightly warm add the powdered sugar. Mix well.
  • Take small portion of the mixture, press with your palm to get a round shape.
  • Store in airtight container and consume within a month.
